This is my perimeter maths work. What we had to do was find the missing measurements with our strategies.

Wearable Arts

This is me making my wearable arts dress.

I spent long hours slaving away to make this dress made out of a sheet, plastic bags, ribbon, sequins and a zip. The top part of the dress is made out of an old sheet. The decorations on the dress are sequins and a piece of white ribbon. The bottom of the dress was made from plastic bags. On the back of the dress I put a zip. I got the sheet from home, the plastic bags from school and the zip, sequins and ribbon from Mrs Kilgours room. What I did was I got everything together and then I sewed the zip onto the sheet. Next, I went to the hot glue room. There I straightened all of the plastic bags and made sure that all of the plastic bags were the same length and the same colour. This garment took me six to eight hours to make.

Week 2, Term 3

In maths I am learning to find the perimeter of plane shapes. What I learnt: That the same amount of one centimeter squares doesn’t equal the same perimeter. A rectangle gives the largest perimeter. The perimeter of a rectangle is twice its length to twice its width. The perimeter of any shape formed by joining one centimeter squares can’t be an odd number. In english we are learning to write two worded sentences that actually make sense. Here are some two worded sentences that we did as a class: He paced, Stacey gasped, Eric stirred, Another corpse, Jeff shrugged, Amy turned, Jeff nodded and Jeff sighed. What we have to do for english is write a poem with two worded sentences only. I am doing a poem on soccer. In P.E we are training for cross country. Yesterday we ran two kilometers. Our actual cross country is three kilometers long.
My goal for this week is to run two kilometers without stopping.

Book Review

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Author: Jeff Kinney

Publisher: Puffin Pages: 217

Duration to Read: 3 Days

Diary of a Wimpy kid is a book that you would want to read forever. It is a funny book that is suitable for all ages to read. This book is based on a journal of someone who lives a wimpy life. Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into high school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. This book is based on a journal of someone who lives a wimpy life. ‘First of all, let me get this straight: This is a journal, not a diary. I know what it says on the cover, but when mum went out to buy this thing I specifically to get one that didn’t say diary on it.’ One night Greg sneaks out to the lounge to secretly listen to Rodricks new parental warning CD. He put the head phones on and cranked the dial to full volume. He listened to it for thirty seconds when an angry Rodrick marches down the stairs. “Dad wants you in your room. By the way he is really angry.” When Greg got into his room he realised that he forgot to plug the headphones in. My favourite character in this hilarious book is Greg Heffley. He is the main character in this book and he is by far the most serious and funniest person in this whole book. I think that Greg would be a funny and true friend. In this book you can really see everything that is happening in Greg’s world. Sliding down the steep hill, the Whirley street kids ambushed us with small, white snowballs. The funniest part in this book is when Greg sits in a bunch of morons and then his teacher says that the seats they are in are permanent seats. Some good advice, you’ve got to be real careful where you sit because the next thing you know the teacher is saying “I hope you all like where you are sitting because these are your permanent seats.” So in this class, I got stuck with Chris Hosey in front of me and Lionel James in back of me. My personal opinion of this book is that it is a really interesting and humorous. I would suggest that people from the age of ten to thirteen would really be in a world of Greg’s. I would rate this 10/10. This is such an excellent book.

I chose this book review because I really enjoyed reading this book because it was so funny. It was a book that anyone would like if they read it.

Scanned Maths Work

LI To add and subtract fractions with different denominators. This is my scanned fractions maths work. To add and subtract decimals you have to multiply the denominators by each other. Next you put the answer as the new denominators. Now times the numerator the same amount of times as you did the denominator. Next add them together.

Week 6, Term 2

This week I have written a report on cheetahs. It was really good. You had to take brief notes and write a report. In maths I have learnt how to divide decimals. I also learnt how to multiply decimals. In tech arts I have been painting my cat and background. My saying for art is the cat’s pyjamas. My background is the cat’s pyjamas. In English I have learnt how to write in dialogue.  In dialogue you have to have the correct punctuation.

My goal this week is:

  • To learn long multiplication with decimals

Week 5, Term 2

This week I have learnt a lot of new things. I have learnt how to play Corner Ball and Karatu.

In maths I have learnt that ordering decimals is pretty easy. You order decimals by looking at the question and seeing if it is ordering them from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest. Then you look at the decimals and choose which is the biggest or smallest and so on. You choose the biggest or smallest by looking down the first column. If the number is equal you look down the next then the next until you find the biggest or smallest.

My goal this week is to learn how to multiply decimals.

Week 4, Term 2

This week I have been to Totara Springs Music Camp. We learnt a heap of songs. We learnt Geronimo which is an Indian war dance, Bandroom Boogie which is really easy but sounds so cool, Popcorn which was really hard, Hot Cross Buns, Merrily we roll along which is the same tune as Mary had a little lamb, Camptown Races and many more. In tech arts we are doing art. For art we are drawing pictures of cats on a piece of card and on a different piece of card we are painting a background. In math we are doing ordering decimals. It is really hard but I am starting to get the hang of it.

My goal this week is to learn how to order decimals.

Week 2, Term2

This week I have learnt how to write an explanation. An explanation is a piece of writing that explains how something works or what something is. For example you could have a title such as How does a magnet work or something along those lines. We are learning to do tree diagrams in maths. We are also learning about probability,  fractions and decimals. In English we are doing vocabulary builder sheets. In class, we are starting to think about what we are going to do for science fair. I have decided to do “Does the melting medium effect the melting time of ice.” I think that will be a bit easy but it will prove to get harder in time. We also did a group science fair project on paper darts.  In food this week we are starting to design our food products. I have made it into the inter intermediate jump jam and my family and I are so proud of my efforts for getting into the group. In band I am learning a lot of new notes such as a b flat and a b. We are also starting to learn some songs for Totara Springs camp which is also next week.

My goal for this week is to get some information on my science fair project.

Week 8, Term 1

This week we have done jump jam. I learnt to co-ordinate most of the jump jam moves correctly. The song I liked the most was Witch Doctor. I also do jump jam at lunch times. My favorite songs from lunch time are bogey wonderland and camp rock. I really hope I make into the inter intermediate jump jam. This week in maths I have learnt how to  do indices and bidmass. Indices is to do with negative and positive numbers and bidmass is to do with equations like this (23+47)x2.

My goal for next week is to finish my english
